Individual
places £80 per place 6 or more places £60 per place For
example: if one person attends six courses or two people attend 3 courses
you pay £60 per person - the more training you do the more CPE points you get
and the cheaper it gets! The price per place includes all course notes and refreshments. 
All refunds will be subject to a 20% administrative charge, plus VAT. Where notice
of cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to the first course on which
you have booked a place, no refund will be made. If you wish to transfer and attend
an alternative venue, 7 days notice must be given in writing. When
shorter notice is given, we reserve the right to charge a £25 plus VAT administration
fee or refuse the request. 
Andrew Burgess MA Andrew joined Mercia in 2003 as an experienced tax
lecturer and consultant. After 14 years with the Revenue, Andrew joined Neville
Russell, which became Mazars following the merger in 1998. At the time of leaving
he was senior tax partner in the firm and had overall responsibility for the running
of the personal tax department. His expertise lies in the areas of employment
taxation, investigation work, charity tax and personal tax planning. Russell
Cockburn Russell is an independent taxation consultant, author and lecturer.
He is an experienced presenter for a number of professional training organisations
on a variety of UK taxation topics throughout the UK. Formerly an Inspector of
Taxes with a range of tax experience in H M Revenue & Customs he joined the wider
tax/accountancy profession in 1987 as a corporate tax manager for a medium sized
firm of chartered accountants going on to head up the business tax department
of a small firm of chartered accountants. In 1989 he established his own taxation
consultancy practice and now heads up Bluebell House Consultants LLP, a specialist
tax consultancy and training firm based in Cumbria. Russell
has lectured all over the UK on tax as well as in diverse locations as far afield
as Mauritius, Nairobi and Belfast! He offers tax consultancy to individuals businesses
and other professional advisers as well as providing tax training services for
small or large groups. He has presented papers at tax conferences and seminars
across the country. Russell also writes on tax matters for a number of well known
publications such as Taxation, Tolley's Tax Bulletin, The Tax Journal, and Accountancy.
He is regular Corporation Tax correspondent for the Institute of Chartered Secretaries
and is also author of several booklets on taxation matters. Russell is also a
contributor to Tottels Tax Investigations service and was the author of Getting
to Grips With Self-Assessment published by CSM Ltd. in 1996. Russell also co-writes
the Company Secretary Factfinder for Gee & co. and has also appeared in the Self-Assessment
video produced by Accountancy Age magazine. In 2002 he published his first book
on Tax, an annual guide for the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and he also
authors the tax sections of several online and CD-Rom based tax information services
for Gee Publishing.
Specialising in personal and business tax Russell offers tax consultancy services
to a wide range of clients throughout the UK. In particular he deals with HMRC
enquiries, planning business and other asset disposals, family capital tax planning
and business disposals as well as advising on the tax implications of corporate
transactions such as capital allowances claims, property purchases and disposals,
disputes on benefits and other compliance issues, and many other technical tax
issues as well as representing individuals firms and companies before the Tax
Tribunal. Alun
Morgan BSc ACA FCCA Alun
specialises in and audit and accounts training, audit quality control visits,
and practice management issues. He has a keen eye for the technical issues that
will impact on the general practitioner, that has been gained from many years
working in this area. This means he is well placed to advise on how general practitioners
can sensibly implement changes in the field of accounting and auditing standards.
His training is therefore focused on what people need to know in their working
lives. Most recently, he has been involved in putting across the views of practising
members on the ethical standards for auditors and UITF 40. This practical slant
on technical areas comes across well in his presentations. Up until June 2007
he sat on the council of the ICAEW, and currently sits on its Practice Society
committee and Financial Reporting committee. Mark
Morton BA ATII At the time of leaving the Inland Revenue in 1997 he was
Deputy District Inspector and had detailed experience of all types of Revenue
enquiries. Mark joined Mercia as an experienced lecturer and now offers training
and technical support to the accountancy profession. Neil
Owen BA FTII AIIT MBIAC Neil Owen of VAT Advisory Services Limited is an
experienced speaker, writer and consultant with nearly twenty-five years' involvement
in VAT. He initially worked for Customs & Excise and has been in professional
practice since 1990. Neil
is a Fellow of the CIOT, an Associate of the Institute of Indirect Taxation, a
Member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants, and National Secretary
of the VAT Practitioners Group. He is also general editor of the book, CCH VAT
Planning. Valerie
Steward BSc ACA FCCA MRSA For
over 20 years she has worked with accountancy practices, helping them to develop
their businesses and remain compliant. She is the author and co-author of a number
of technical guides and work programmes including the CCH Industry Audit and Accounting
Guide on Clubs and Associations, the Practice Society Anti-Money Laundering Procedures
and Training Manual and the ACCA Audit Programmes and International Audit Programmes.
She enjoys helping firms to develop, advising on training and staffing policy
and all aspects of practice management. She also lectures widely on auditing,
management skills and assurance services. Dean
Wootten FCA CTA Dean has been involved in tax training since 1994 and lectures
on a wide variety of tax matters. Dean started his career as a Chartered Accountant,
qualifying in 1988 and then as an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in 1991.
After qualifying Dean spent a number of years in practice, including over five
years at partner level. The experience gained whilst in practice enables Dean
to focus his lecturing on the practical aspects of the issues presented. |
